How to activate the cooling in the Cool Couchie pad
- Even Out the Pearls: While the pad is still inside its sleeve, gently massage it to distribute the cooling pearls evenly throughout. They may have shifted during shipping, making one end look thicker than the other.
- Fold to Pop: Keeping the pad in the sleeve, fold it in half from top to bottom. Press gently along the fold until you hear a "pop" — this activates the cooling effect.
- Shake It Up: With the pad still in the sleeve, give it a gentle shake to help the cooling fully kick in.
- Unwrap & Apply: Tear open the sleeve and remove the pad. Peel off the paper backing to reveal the adhesive. Place the pad inside your underwear, and you're good to go.
FAQ
Why is the Cool Couchie pad an essential for your postpartum couchie?
How does the Cool Couchie pad work?
How often and when do you use the Cool Couchie pad?
Cooling works best while you're resting — whether sitting or lying down.
Use the Cool Couchie pad 2 to 4 times a day during the first few days postpartum, based on how much comfort or pain relief you need. For best results, you use the first pad after your shower after giving birth. Those first hours really make a difference!
How many Cool Couchie pads do you recommend?
We recommend 10 Cool Couchie pads to get you through the first days. If you wish to be more conservative, then 5 pads already help a lot right after giving birth.
Do I need to freeze the Cool Couchie pad?
No, the Cool Couchie pads are ready to use and do not require any freezer! You can activate the cooling mechanism within seconds. This is ideal for your hospital bag!
Should I bring the Cool Couchie pads in my hospital bag?
Yes! Cooling in those first 24 hours after giving birth really makes a difference! And, you never know how long you might stay in the hospital, so make sure to pack one complete box (5 pads).
How do I properly pack the pads in my hospital bag?
When packing your Cool Couchie pads in your hospital bag, avoid putting any pressure on them. The best way to protect them is to bring them in their original box.
What underwear should I wear with the pad?
It is recommended to use the Cool Couchie pad in either an adult diaper or a big boxer. It’s best to skip a thong or those postpartum mesh underwear for now — they don’t hold the pad in place very well (read: they often slip down with a cooling maternity pad!) and usually just aren’t very comfortable.
What is the recommended use of the Cool Couchie Pad?
I still have some Cool Couchie pads left, what can I do with it?
If you have excess items left, then you can store them for a later point or donate these to other pregnant women. Also good to know: Men use these pads after a vasectomy. The expiration date of your pads is printed on the box. The pads have a shelf life of 3 years.
